There was plenty to celebrate at Casa Verde children's home in Peru when the girls welcomed visitors from Allies for the opening of their newly renovated kitchen. The afternoon began with dancing and games, followed by three girls sharing words of thanks. Everyone then watched a video showing how the new kitchen came together before gathering for the ribbon-cutting ceremony.
But the celebration didn't stop there! The girls, volunteers, and visitors headed into the kitchen for a chocolate-chip cookie workshop. They had fun learning and making cookies together, putting their new space to good use. The evening also included gifts, a birthday celebration for the home's director, and a shared dinner.
With the support of Allies donors, the new kitchen is more than just a place to prepare meals. It's also a space where the girls can learn practical skills, try new things, and grow in confidence. Activities like the cookie workshop give them a chance to learn by doing, with volunteers there to guide and encourage them.
Thank you to everyone who helped make this renovation possible. It's wonderful to see the girls already making memories in their new kitchen!
