Helping Children Talk About Their Emotions in Managua

In Managua, Nicaragua, children gathered for a lesson at the children’s club that focused on understanding their emotions and caring for their thoughts. One of the teachers shared how she had prepared carefully for the lesson because she wanted the children to receive something meaningful. Using a simple activity called the “emotions traffic light,” the children learned how to recognize feelings like anger, sadness, and fear, and how to respond to them in healthy ways. They also discussed the importance of filling their minds with good and encouraging thoughts, recalling the message of Philippians 4:8 and how God guides them each day.

The children responded openly during the meeting. Sabddy, age 11, shared how much she appreciated having a place where she could talk about her emotions like anger, sadness, and happiness. Michelle, also 11, said she especially enjoyed the reading time and the video about understanding feelings. Ian, age 11, shared that he loved spending time with the group and was already looking forward to the next gathering. Joshua, age 10, said he learned how important it is to control his emotions, help others, and show kindness in everyday life.

Parents also shared how meaningful the children’s club has been for their families. Virginia said that teaching children about God’s love helps guide them in the right direction and encourages them to grow with confidence. Rebecca shared that the club gives children the opportunity to learn about God in a way they can understand and enjoy.

Moments like these show how simple lessons can shape young hearts in lasting ways. With the continued support that makes programs like this possible in Nicaragua, children are growing not only in knowledge but also in confidence, kindness, and faith.
