Allies Throws Bittersweet Bash Before Break
August 3, 2017There was no shortage of happiness at the Allies volunteers visit to an orphanage in Moldova—but there was a tinge of sadness, too, as it marked the last for the volunteers before officially going on summer break.
To leave the children with only good memories, the volunteers meticulously prepared a program that was full of fun, excitement and savory food. There was much joy to share and spread around, with the children getting their fill of surprises and much-deserved gifts.
“There was an ocean of smiles the whole time,” an Allies volunteer said. “We asked each of them to choose a gift, whether it be coloring books, shoes, shirts or jewelry. There was just this sense of indescribable ecstasy.”
16-year-old Danu echoed this sentiment and expressed her eagerness to attend an Allies summer camp. “I like your programs and the way you meet with us. I would love to continue to have fellowship with you.”
The volunteers, in turn, acknowledged that nothing can take the place of spending quality time with the kids. “We were all very happy to distribute gifts to the children, but of course, the warmth of our fellowship is irreplaceable,” they said.
