Secrets of a Clean Home and the Power of Simple Habits

In April, the AMP lesson titled "Secrets of a Clean Home: Becoming a Master of Order" was brought to life by 78 leaders and teams across 43 countries. This practical and engaging session taught children the value of cleanliness, personal responsibility, and helping at home. Through role-playing, group discussions, and hands-on activities, they learned that small daily actions—like folding clothes, tidying their rooms, or washing dishes—can have a big impact.

Many children expressed a desire to become “masters of order” and pledged to put their new habits into practice. Leaders shared that the lesson sparked meaningful conversations about responsibility and dignity, while parents and directors began noticing positive behavioral changes and a growing sense of pride in the children.

At Allies, we often talk about changing children’s futures—but lessons like this remind us that we are also changing their present. Their lives are being transformed today.

Spotlight Story: Josphat from Kenya

This month, we highlight the story of Josphat, a 13-year-old boy in Kenya who lives with his single mother in poverty. During an AMP session, his quiet wisdom left a powerful impression. “When the environment is dirty, people get sick, and we feel sad. But when it’s clean, we feel proud,” he said. His words sparked a group discussion that led to an impromptu handwashing demonstration.

Josphat raised a concern that resonated with everyone—the importance of washing hands after using the toilet. In communities where access to hygiene supplies is limited, this simple reminder became a powerful lesson. Children rolled up their sleeves and joyfully practiced handwashing together, turning a small moment into lasting awareness. This is the everyday power of AMP sessions.

The Determined Little Star: Theresa’s Journey

In a small Liberian orphanage lives 10-year-old Theresa, a sixth-grade student with a heart full of dreams. Orphaned at two years old, Theresa is known for her cheerful spirit and unwavering determination. She helps younger children, assists in the kitchen, and works hard in school. During a recent visit from Allies, her eyes lit up with joy as she helped unpack donated supplies.

“Thank you for helping us,” she said shyly, then added with a hopeful smile, “One day, I will help others too—just like you.” Theresa’s words capture the hope and resilience we see in children throughout our global network.

In April, AMP teams also led a valuable hygiene-focused lesson in 14 countries across 30 regions—an especially crucial topic for children living in extreme conditions, such as those surviving on city landfills. In addition to hygiene, children learned about great inventors, celebrated Easter, and explored other life-enriching lessons.

To everyone who continues to support this mission through prayer, partnership, and generosity—thank you. Together, we are building a world where every child is seen, known, and loved.
