In Ukraine, amidst the challenges that many families face, small acts of kindness and responsibility are creating ripples of hope. One recent gathering showcased how young hearts are stepping up to make a difference—not just for themselves, but for the younger children in their community.
At our latest meeting, two 13-year-old girls, Ania and Sasha, took on the role of mentors for the younger children, a step that filled the day with warmth and inspiration. Just a few weeks ago, these girls were simply participants, but this time, they volunteered to lead a special session focused on family and love.
Ania and Sasha spent days preparing, thoughtfully selecting games and activities that would make the topic engaging and accessible for the younger group. They spoke about the importance of family bonds and kindness, fostering an environment where even the youngest children could feel the depth of their message. Afterward, they shared snacks and laughter with the group, creating a sense of belonging and community.
What’s more heartwarming is that Ania and Sasha have asked to lead another session soon—an inspiring sign that our community is not just growing in numbers, but in empathy and leadership.
Among the children in attendance was 10-year-old Angelina, who has quickly become a cherished part of our community. Despite her age, Angelina spends time with the younger group, children aged 5-6, where she finds comfort and camaraderie.
Angelina’s life has been filled with more challenges than many children her age should ever face. Her family lost their home during the bombing of their city. They now live under difficult circumstances while also caring for Angelina’s paralyzed grandmother. Her mother works night shifts at a kindergarten, and her father works late hours, leaving Angelina to attend a boarding school during the week.
But weekends bring a bright spot—Angelina’s parents pick her up and bring her to our gatherings, where she finds joy, friendship, and support. Thanks to the generosity of our donors, we’re able to provide her with essential school supplies and care packages, helping ease some of the burdens her family carries.
Moments like these—watching young girls like Ania and Sasha take leadership roles, and seeing children like Angelina find hope and happiness despite adversity—are at the heart of why we do what we do. It’s not just about providing material support; it’s about creating spaces where children feel valued, empowered, and connected.
Thanks to the continued generosity of our supporters, we can offer these children more than just supplies—we offer them community, education, and hope. Together, we are nurturing a generation of compassionate leaders who will carry these values forward, creating ripples of kindness that will last far beyond these meetings.
Every contribution makes a difference, and every act of kindness helps build a brighter future.
