Life under lockdown is really changing how people live. On the brighter side, isolation has allowed many of us time to reflect on our family, friends, neighbors and ourselves. It has tested many things and made many of our relationships stronger.

For Allies, while we cannot continue to meet one on one with the children in all the orphanages, we can still provide for their basic needs. We are still surprising them with treats, fruits, vegetables, and personal hygiene supplies.

During our leaders’ recent trip to a Moldova orphanage, the children felt grateful for these efforts.

“We bought treats for the children, and also vegetables, fruit, hygiene products and disinfection products. The caregivers of the orphanage and the children were very happy. It is a pity that we could not play with them, sing, pray, read the Bible and just hug them, but we do what we can. Please pray that the Lord will strengthen our faith and give us wisdom how best to serve in such circumstances. Thank you very much for your support!” one leader told us.

The work does not stop. The children are still there. We push forward, adapt and find ways to empower volunteers to intervene on their behalf. Despite the risk, despite the danger, Allies is still showing up. Love is conquering fear. And the children are noticing.

Our in-country leaders and volunteers are asking us to pray that God will give them strength in their faith and wisdom – how to best serve the children in this new normal. Please share their request with your friends and family and pray for them in any way you can.

I am reminded of what James the brother of Jesus says, “If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.”
