Helping Children in Ukraine Learn to Resolve Conflict with Kindness

In Ukraine, this month’s gathering with the children focused on an important theme: conflict. We began with songs and games that brought joy and helped the children connect. Through simple activities like preparing lemonade together, they discovered that while everyone is different, working together makes us stronger.

The lesson then turned to what conflict really means. Children were encouraged not to fight or ignore problems, but to face them with kind words and actions. A creative exercise showed that conflict cannot simply be covered up, it needs to be resolved. To make the lesson practical, we used a bandage as a symbol, reminding the children that healing comes when we respond with love and understanding. Each child received a small bandage to take home as a reminder of this truth.

Even during the gathering, small disagreements naturally arose, which gave us the chance to teach in real time. We talked through those moments, showing that conflicts can be solved without anger or hurt. The children listened closely and responded well. It was clear they were beginning to understand that true friendship is built on forgiveness and respect.

We also think of children like Snezhana, who face many challenges at home and in her education. Growing up in a large family with little positive guidance, she often struggles with choices. These gatherings give her a safe space to learn how to respond to life’s difficulties with wisdom and grace. We believe that lessons like these will help her and many others take hopeful steps forward.

Thank you for making it possible for these children to learn, grow, and build stronger futures.
