The Healthy Way of Living

Every year in Voronezh the month of April has been established as the month of good deeds. One week of this month has recently been dedicated to teaching the children from the orphanage ways in which to live a healthy life. Volunteers of Voronezh prepare different games and trainings on how to say no to bad habits and choices that could be permanently damaging and detrimental to the success of each child.

Although the topics in these trainings are covering deeply rooted situations and problems, the material is presented in a pleasant and cheerful atmosphere that is appropriate and encourages participation from all ages.

One child named Pasha expressed the effect the event had:

"I liked today's event. I have already tried smoking but I do not want to do it anymore. Today in the movie that was shown to us I saw what would happen to my lungs if I were to keep doing this.

A volunteer also expressed the effect the event had on them as the one presenting the material to the children:

"I love to interact with these children and in helping them learn to make the right choices in life that can lead them to a positive future. I hope that our support and effort will be able to produce good fruit for these children."

These trainings may seem minor to many in the big scheme of things, but the ability for these children to thrive starts on the most basic level; and that is, teaching these children how to make wise choices for themselves and taking ownership for their choices through training and special events such as these.
