In the coastal city of Vũng Tàu, Vietnam, a simple day at camp became a life-changing moment for many children, and it was made possible by your generosity.
One of the local missionaries recently shared his experience of meeting Teacher Sam and discovering their shared passion for reaching children, especially those living in orphanages. On July 20, he joined a one-day Christian camp filled with joyful songs, creative activities, and the message of the gospel. What stood out most wasn’t just the fun or laughter, but the sight of several children raising their hands to receive Jesus as their Savior. It was a powerful reminder of how deeply your support touches young hearts.
Among the children at the camp was a 15-year-old boy named Tran, though his friends and teachers call him Philip. He lives in a local orphanage and has never known his parents. For most of his life, Philip struggled with loneliness and questions no child should have to face: Why was I born? Does anyone care about me?
Even in a room full of other children, he often felt alone.
That changed when Teacher Sam arrived. He came not just to teach English but to share something far more meaningful: the message of God’s love through Jesus Christ. For the first time, Philip heard that he was fearfully and wonderfully made. That God sees him, knows him, and loves him.
During one visit, something stirred in Philip’s heart. He realized that Jesus died for him, and that he didn’t have to carry the weight of loneliness anymore. That day, he prayed and accepted Jesus as his Savior.
Now, Philip no longer feels forgotten. He knows he has a Father in Heaven who cares for him every day.
“Thank you to Teacher Sam for coming to us, teaching us, playing with us, and showing us the love of God,” Philip says.
“Through him and the other teachers, I felt something I had never truly felt before—real love. Even though I still don’t know who my parents are, I now know who my Heavenly Father is. And I know He has a purpose for my life.”
To everyone who prayed, gave, or served, you made this possible.
Because of you, Philip and children like him now walk with hope, faith, and the knowledge that they are deeply loved.
