Artistic Endeavors
May 3, 2016Allies recently received a letter from a group in Isilkul, in the Omsk region, after a professional artist came to teach the kids at the orphanage.
Written Report: This time we went to the orphanage with an Omsk professional artist Maria Bocharova who volunteered to give to the kids a master class in drawing and painting a human face. That was an awesome session. The kids first learned the professional techniques of to draw a face, then how to paint it and finally, how to add emotional expressions to the face. The kids were very interested and concentrated hard on the work. They listened attentively to the tutor and then treated their hand in drawing.
Volunteer Story: Maria Bocharova has just graduated from the Omsk Institute of Services and Technology and wants to work with kids teaching them painting. It was her first time with us in the orphanage and she proved to be a great tutor. She has established good contact with the kids and she is willing to continue to visit the orphanage in the future.
Child Story: Oraz is the kid we mentioned before. But this time we knew him from a different side: as an excellent painter. He really has a talent! But, he says he doesn’t like painting. He is more into sports and mathematics. Oraz seems to find it difficult to focus on his future. Initially he wanted to enter an engineering school in Omsk. Then he changed his mind and started to prepare for entrance exams at Omsk Medical Academy. He started to take classes in chemistry and biology from the tutors that work with us.
